Army Day is being celebrated in Iran. A parade early this morning (Monday) by troops from the country's ground, naval, and air forces was held to showcase their latest achievements. A large portion of a domestically-made air defense system was also expected to be displayed. The nation's Defense Minister has said military equipment upgrades are one of the key strategies of his office. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad addressed the soldiers before the march. He said the West is creating regional conflict, in order to sell arms, and called on nearby countries to remain vigilant. He also claimed the US wants to generate tension between Iranians and Arabs, to create a sectarian conflict. He added that regional security requires honest cooperation between nations in the Middle East.
